Why will you love this blueberry butter?
You’ll get a delightful addition to your breakfasts with only two ingredients that require two simple steps. The subtle sweetness of blueberries and the richness of butter is unmatched, elevating each dish to a gourmet level.

Try it over French toast or English muffins, and you will thank me! This fruit butter is one of a kind and will grace a cheese and charcuterie board and transform a simple piece of toasted bread into a feast.
My encounter with blueberry compound butter
Following the success of my dried cranberry compound butter, I wanted to experiment with other flavors. Dried blueberries were the next natural step with their characteristic acidic flavor and beautiful color.

Blueberries always remind me of summers in Michigan and Florida, full of sun and fun. And this blueberry compound butter guarantees a burst of summer flavor on every bite.
The art of compound butter
Like my cranberry compound butter, this blueberry version is rooted in the French tradition of “beurre composé.” It’s about mixing soft butter with various ingredients for unique flavor combinations.
How do I make blueberry compound butter?

Making your own compound butter is a super easy 2-ingredient 2-step process:
- Process the ingredients: Combine room-temperature butter with dried blueberries in a food processor. You can use an immersion blender. Or combine blueberries and butter and mix by hand. Use an electric hand mixer at medium-low speed if you want fluffy, whipped blueberry butter.
- Shape and refrigerate: Once well combined, wrap the butter in cling film or parchment paper, give it a log shape, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to set.
Tips for your perfect blueberry butter

- Keep in mind this recipe calls for dry blueberries, not fresh blueberries.
- I always go for salted butter for such recipes. Don’t forget to add a pinch of salt if you use unsalted butter.
- Always go for real butter (no margarine, please), and have your butter at room temperature.
- Lemon zest also complements the taste of blueberries well.
- You can store this easy compound butter in the fridge for up to two weeks or freeze it for up to a year. If you decide to freeze it, it’s always a good idea to cover the log with a piece of plastic wrap and save it in a freezer-safe container.
- You can slice the cold log in medallions to make a pretty presentation. Or you can serve your butter as I did in a butter dish.
