Illumination is the name of this concoction, winner of the Competition Trophy and Best Cocktail at the 16th Annual Drinks International Cocktail Challenge in London, back in 2009.
It was especially created for Ron de Venezuela Santa Teresa Claro by Jim Wrigley, a mixologist who is also Ron Santa Teresa Brand Ambassador in London.
I saw Jim mixing it and garnishing it with a rose petal and since Valentine’s Day is here, I thought it was a good idea to raise my glass…
Here is the recipe. Salud!
Illumination
1½ oz of Ron de Venezuela Santa Teresa Claro
1/3 oz of Rhum Orange Liqueur
1/3 oz of Francoli Pinot Nero Grappa
2 dashes of orange bitters
Add all ingredients to a shaker with cubed ice and shake vigorously for 30 seconds. Strain into a frozen martini glass.
