Melon Bomb, a green shot for St. Patrick’s Day.
Here is another emerald cocktail to toast to St. Patrick. My friend OrquĆdea found the recipe here and, always helpful as she is, immediately sent it to me.
After I mixed it, I couldnāt help thinking of Federico GarcĆa Lorcaās poem Romance SonĆ”mbulo (Sleepwaker Ballad), which starts: Verde, que te quiero verde (āGreen, how I want you greenā¦ā) no doubtĀ one of the most heartrending, yet beautiful, poems ever written in my mother tongue.
Named after Midori, the JapaneseĀ melon liqueur that gives its color and refreshing flavor, this Melon Bomb is a nice, rum based āof courseā vibrant shot, perfect to toast to the Irish, hope and good luck!
“May you have all the happiness
and luck that life can holdā
And at the end of all your rainbows
may you find a pot of gold.”

and luck that life can holdā
And at the end of all your rainbows
may you find a pot of gold.”
