Last week was a good one: finishing projects, starting new ones, very productive, exiting! It was the kind of week that when the clock hits 5:00 pm on Friday you feel like you want to relax and celebrate for all the good things. Unexpectedly, a friend sent me a message from Russia to tell me he had Ron de Venezuela in Moscow! So I decided to have some good Ron de Venezuela in Southern California.
The original Cosmopolitan is made out of vodka and triple sec. This Ron de Venezuela edition is made out of Santa Teresa Claro, a superb rum created to mix in cocktails, and Rhum Orange Liqueur, a sweet rum and orange peel liqueur.
Claro Cosmopolitan
1 oz Ron de Venezuela Santa Teresa Claro
⅓ oz Rhum Orange Liqueur
⅔ oz of fresh lime juice
1 Tbsp of gomme
2 dashes of orange bitters
⅓ oz of cranberry juice
Add all ingredients to a boston. Shake with cubed ice and fine strain into a frozen martini glass. Garnish with a flamed orange zest.
